Once you’ve decided to join a group, what next? How do you actually join one? Answer: Show up. Seriously, that’s all it takes. The decision is yours to make: there are no formal announcements or agreements, no study group membership fees. Attend a group session and then decide that you would like to pursue it. Here’s how to get the ball rolling:
- Read our frequently asked questions: Read “What is a study group?”
- Find out if there’s a group meeting in your area: See the schedule of local meetings
- If there is a group near you, and it fits your schedule...
See this page for a list of study group host/facilitator contacts. Contact the host/facilitator and pepper them with questions about what a typical meeting is like (seriously, it’s okay to ask questions). Get the time/date of the next meeting, the address, directions, and parking details. You might also want to supply your contact information: if the upcoming meeting is delayed, you can be notified.
- If there is no group near you, or one does not fit your schedule...
There are two possibilities:
- Start your own group, with the help and support of our study group coordinator, Patty McCarthy. (See this page for info on starting a new group. Also, here’s info on EdgarCayce.org on starting your own group—with Patty’s help.)
- Join an online study group hosted by EdgarCayce.org (see last section of that page). Worldwide members don’t converse in real-time, but communicate through email at a time of their choosing.
- Attend meetings.
- When asked if you’re a member of an Edgar Cayce Search for God study group, answer, “Yes!”
